It’s just about 9am. Saturday. One of my days off from work and here I am all wide-eyed and bushy-tailed to start this day. Okay, so that was an exaggeration, but I’m awake none-the-less while the entire house is sound asleep all snug in their beds.
Anyone that truly knows me will say that I’m really not a morning person. Not even in the slightest. I’m cranky and I just don’t enjoy this part of the day. I’ve never understood the whole “Good Morning” thing; morning would be a much better thing for me if it started around 11am.
Monday to Friday, I practically have to beg and plea for my brain and body to wake up as I drag myself out of bed with 20 minutes to get ready before the express bus passes by. I know this is not normal, but with not sleeping well at night, I tend to get the best sleep between 5am and 7am. You’ll often hear me say, “I can’t wait for the weekend so I can sleep in!”
Well here we are weekend, and I’m awake. I’ve showered, had breakfast and watched some TV. For some reason, this happens every weekend. In fact I’m surprised, it wasn’t 6am. It seems on the weekend my brain thinks it go time, while on the days I need it to be alive it wants to stay in bed all day.
Before you say anything, I’ve tried going to bed at different times, anywhere from 10pm to 3am and my sleeping pattern has never changed. I’ve never wanted to take a sleeping medication or sleep aid to help with sleeping; but I think now might be time. I’m running on very little sleep these days and I feel like a walking zombie just getting through each day.
Have you ever used something to help you sleep? If yes, what would you recommend? Did it help?
